Lily Lolo natural eyeliner – now award winning!

Lily Lolo

Lily Lolo wins Miss Eco Glam AwardWe’ve raved about our eyeliners since their launch back in March – we’ve all bought them, our fans are loving them, and now we’re delighted to have gained recognition from eco beauty enthusiast Miss Eco Glam (aka Anna Rodgers).

Anna’s eco living blog is the ultimate place to read all the new organic, sustainable and natural news and to hear an honest opinion from a beegan (a vegan that eats raw natural honey – we just learned that one today) who really knows her stuff.

The Miss Eco Glam blog sees in excess of 25,000 unique page visits in any month, proving her authority in the world of eco blogging.

The awards launched in 2009 in celebration of the best eco products available on the UK market, and have since been awarded to some of the largest and well-known makeup and skincare brands in the world.natural eye liner

Khaki Eyeliner

Lily Lolo

Khaki eyelinerOne of our personal favourites here at Lily Lolo head office is the new Khaki eye liner pencil. Made from 100% natural ingredients, the pencil is soft and smudgy and the wood comes from sustainable forests in Germany.

The colour is absolutely gorgeous, and works perfectly with many of our eyeshadows. Try matching the pencil with a similar colour for a subtle effect. Khaki Sparkle is an obvious choice, and the two look great together.

Khaki also works really well with pinks and violets (as seen in our spring look); contrasting shades look great together.

For only £7 the eyeliners make the perfect makeup bag additional, and we’d certainly recommend the Khaki.

Violet beauty trend

Violet beauty trend

You’ll see a strong violet theme in our spring look, but don’t just take our word for it. Purple hues were key on the catwalk at the top end of the fashion market – and it’s these brands that set the style for the season ahead.

When we’re planning our next look we carefully research the trends and speak to professional colour forecasters. It’s fascinating to learn that these forecasters actually know what colour is going to be key for each season up to two years in advance.

As seen on the catwalks at the very, very beginning of the spring season purple was always tipped to be big. The likes of Michael Kors, Christian Dior and Versace all featured violet eyes to finish off their look. (Read Vogue’s spring colour report)

Our violet trend takes inspiration from the catwalk, whilst ensuring the look is achievable for all and suitable for everyday wear. (It’s not many of us that need makeup for the catwalk)

Spring photoshoot: behind the scenes!

spring beauty - behind the scenes

We love to escape LL HQ occasionally to get creative in the photography studio. It’s always fun to get creative – playing with products and meeting new models.

We love to show you the finished result from the day, but we thought you might also like to see a bit more from behind the scenes to see what we get up to on the day in studio.

Paris, our model and the team that worked on the shoot did a fantastic job!

You can see more photos from the day on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lilylolo

And of course – if you’d like to be considered to model in our next shoot, drop us a line to hello@lilylolo.co.uk including some recent photos – we’re always on the look out for our next faces of the brand!

Our spring look – the before and after!

Lily Lolo

Spring makeup Sometimes you really just can’t believe the power of minerals until you’ve tried it yourself. Take it from us, our Lily Lolo minerals are a great way to ensure full coverage and a flawless finish.

After some persuasion our lovely spring model Paris let us snap a quick before shot so that we could show you the difference mineral makeup can give.

With a good base (cleansed, toned and moisturised) our makeup artist built up the look using Blondie concealer to brighten under eyes and smooth out any pinker tones within the skin.

Blondie foundation was the perfect match for Paris, and this was built in layers with the kabuki brush before applying blush and a dusting of Translucent Silk which gives the gorgeous glow you can see on the apples of the cheeks.

Granted we have a gorgeous model and studio lighting but don’t you think the products look just lovely?!

Read our blog on spring beauty trends for more tips on recreating this full look. And of course, let us know how you get on.

Spring makeup trend: Fresh and Flawless in violet!

Lily Lolo

Spring beauty trendsViolet beauty is huge on the catwalk for this season – you only have to look in the pages of Vogue and the other magazines to see how big violets are.

Looking fresh and flawless in violets with Lily Lolo is easy; the silky soft makeup range gives great coverage and a flawless finish.

Here’s how to get our Spring look yourselves.

Apply your foundation with your kabuki brush or flocked sponge, for the most flawless finish and add concealer where necessary. Complete the look with a dusting of our gorgeous Translucent Silk, which gives a lovely dewy glow to the skin.

To create the lovely smoky violet eyes, use a base colour of Parma Violet, wash the colour over the eyelids with the Pure Sable Brush and then apply Deep Purple, blending the two colours together.

The khaki eyeliner creates a perfect and striking combination – use it to line the upper and lower lids before applying your mascara.

Use a complementary cheek and lip colour, we’ve used Ooh La La and Bubblegum Pink on this look.

Guilt free Easter gifts!

Lily Lolo

It’s Easter weekend, so naturally that means chocolate overload – four days in fact of chocolate overload (that is of course, assuming that like us at the LL HQ you’ve already got the eggs open and are munching away).

Perhaps it would be a whole lot healthier to indulge this Easter with a lovely chocolate themed eyeshadow in Choc Fudge Cake, or a gorgeous lip gloss in Cocoa Kiss?

We’re indulging without the calories this Easter, and you can grab these chocolate themed treats for the same price as an Easter egg – completely guilt free!
