Smoky eye makeup: step by step guide
Lily Lolo

For perfect smoky eyes this party season pick three varied shades of one colour. Most popular for smoky eye makeup is black, silver or grey and white, but you can achieve the same look with other colours as well.
How about trying greens (Four Leaf Clover, Green Opal and Angelic) or purples (African Violet, Parma Violet and Orchid).
For this we’ll use greys and the eye colours, Witchypoo, Gunmetal and Angelic
Follow this step by step for best effects:
- Firstly, never overload the makeup brush with too much powder – a little really does go a long way when you’re using minerals
- Wash a layer of the mid shade (GunMetal) over the eyelids and a little bit in the outer corners underneath
- Blend in, but don’t go too far into the inner socket – we don’t want to end up looking like pandas! (the blending brush is a great tool for this)
- To add depth to the outer socket and underneath use a darker shade (Witchypoo) and using the Pure Sable Brush take the colour up to the brow bone so that it fades to almost nothing
- For your eyeliner, the trick of the trade is to use a mineral eye colour with a damp eyeliner brush
- Use the brush to apply Witchypoo eye colour on your upper and lower lash line – making sure you apply it as closely to the roots as possible.
- For extra drama use a smudge brush to smudge the line for an extra smoky effect.
- You can also highlight the inner corners of the eyes, to give even more depth. Angelic is a great sparkly colour for this.
- Then subtly highlight the brow bone – Orchid gives a slight shimmer or use Pure for a matte finish.
- Apply your favourite mascara, two coats always gives extra drama
- Lastly, never overplay smoky eyes with strong lips – remember the rule – it’s one or the other! For shiny neutral lips try our gorgeous and clever lipgloss in clear – it’s pink in the tube but goes on clear.
