Lily Lolo FAQ's

1
What is the difference between mineral foundation and traditional liquid foundation?
Liquid and cream foundations contain oils, preservatives, fragrances etc; Lily Lolo is made with gentle mineral ingredients only. Many of our customers tell us they are not only impressed with the look of mineral foundation but that they can actually feel an improvement in the condition of their skin.

2
Will the coverage be as good as my liquid foundation?
You'll be amazed! Mineral foundation covers like nothing else. Not only that, it doesn't lay in a thick obvious way on top of your skin, it buffs in beautifully to give the illusion of flawless, bare skin. When your skin requires less coverage, just apply less, you don't need a heavy foundation AND a tinted moisturiser!

3
Can I wear moisturiser under my minerals?
Of course! For best results allow moisturiser to be fully absorbed before applying the mineral foundation to your skin.

4
Is Lily Lolo the same as other powder products?
No. Most powder products contain talc or corn starch which is drying and gives skin that 'powdery' look. Mineral foundation is silky or creamy and is not drying to the skin.

5
How do I know which colour to buy?
Don't be put off by buying on the internet! How many foundations have you bought and got them home only to discover they're the wrong shade?! We offer samples of our products for 99p plus p&p so that you can check you've got the right shade before you invest in the full size - We'd recommend ordering perhaps 2 or 3. The samples contain around 1g of foundation powder which although sounds very small will be enough for several applications. You can even mix foundations together to create your own personal colour.

6
Do I need to buy a special brush to apply the foundation?
Kabuki brushes are specially made for applying mineral cosmetics so are undoubtedly the best way to apply your mineral foundation. However, if you just want to try mineral foundation and have ordered some samples one of your existing makeup brushes will do. Try and use a small brush out of a compact which has shorter bristles - you'll still achieve great results.

Do bear in mind that the brush you use will affect the kind of coverage you can achieve - as a basic guide the more densely packed the bristles the better the coverage.

You can also apply mineral foundation with a flocked (velour) sponge, this will provide fuller coverage than a brush but still give you the same natural radiant look.

7
Is mineral foundation easy to apply?
Yes, very easy - no more dabbing at spots trying to get a slimy liquid in the right place! Simply dip your application brush in the powder, tap off the excess and apply in a circular motion to your face. We include a leaflet of application tips with your order but you really can't go wrong with minerals.

If you're using sample sizes you'll find it much less fiddly if you empty the powder out into a bigger container - that way you can dip the brush into them. You'll also find application quicker and easier after a few days of use, first of all you'll be more used to it but secondly the foundation will start to build up on the brush so you won't need to use as much (in the same way that you get a build up of colour on a regularly used blusher brush).

8
Do I need to wear a finishing powder over my foundation?
No, Lily Lolo foundations can be worn without any finishing powder if you choose. However, we offer several different finishing powders which are very popular.

9
Will my Lily Lolo foundation stay on all day?
Yes, mineral foundation has great staying power - read our testimonials to find out what our customers say.

10
What is the SPF of Lily Lolo foundations?
As our foundations haven't been assessed specifically to measure their SPF we are legally unable to publish an SPF number. We can advise that like almost all mineral foundations they contain ingredients which provide a natural sunscreen.

11
Are your products made from all natural ingredients?
We are aware that many mineral makeup companies advertise that their products are made from natural minerals or minerals from the earth. In reality there are very few ingredients used for cosmetic purposes that are truly natural, almost all need to be refined or processed in order to be safe for human use – essential oils for example are highly processed. So whilst we use the same types of ingredients as other mineral makeup companies we refer to them as gentle or purified minerals as we feel that this is less misleading.

12
Are your products allergy-free?
Whilst our products are as simple as possible in formulation and made from the gentlest ingredients we can find no one product (or ingredient) is guaranteed to be allergy-free for everyone.

13
Do your products contain parabens?
No, none of the Lily Lolo range of cosmetics contains parabens, fragrances or fillers.

14
What is your animal testing policy?
We do not test any of our products or ingredients on animals or ask anyone to do so on our behalf. Our products are made from ingredients which have been used for cosmetic purposes for many years and are already considered to be safe. All our formulations have been assessed and conform to European Cosmetic Regulations.

15
Do you use any animal ingredients?
We currently have two eye colours which contain carmine (Golden Pink and Golden Lilac), this is commonly used in cosmetics but is a derivative of cochineal (a red food colouring). We are currently looking into alternatives for these products but in the meantime vegans and vegetarians may want to avoid these shades.

16
Do you have an alternative to natural animal hair brushes?
We stock some high quality synthetic hair brushes. Our kabuki's, concealer brushes, smudge brushes and angle brow brushes are all synthetic hair.  We also stock flocked sponges for those who prefer to avoid animal hair.
