Here at Lily Lolo HQ we know how important hard work is but we also understand the importance of taking time to chill out, so we’ve put together some top tips on how to unwind when your work schedule is getting a little hectic…
Now we’re not suggesting you need to be running marathons but all forms of exercise, including yoga and walking, can ease depression and anxiety by helping the brain release endorphins which is a great stress-buster. Easy ways to introduce exercise include taking a quick walk down your street, swapping the lift for stairs, or doing some simple stretching exercises like head rolls and shoulder shrugs, these can be done at your desk too!
Just a few minutes of practice per day can help ease stress. It’s simple to do, sit up straight either in a chair or on the floor. Close your eyes and let any distracting thoughts float away. There are even apps like Calm that can guide you through meditation. At Lily Lolo HQ we take ten minutes away from our desks each week for a group meditation session, so trust us it really helps!
Take a bath
There is nothing quite like a soak in the tub after a long hard day. Switch off from everything and take some time out for you. Liven up your bath time experience with candles, bath bombs and a good book and let your worries float away with the steam.
There is nothing more relaxing than a visit to the spa, so why not create your own in the comfort of your own home!? Dim the lights and light your favourite candles as soon as you get home from a busy day, this will automatically signal to your brain that you should switch off and relax. Take off your makeup, apply a face-mask and breathe, we also recommend applying some of our Night Cream to your skin which contains Lavender & Rose Geranium Essential oils to really help you relax
Listen to music
Research shows that listening to soothing music can lower blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety! Make a playlist of soothing songs or nature sounds (the ocean, rainfall, birdsong), and allow your mind to focus on the different melodies, instruments, or lyrics. Why not blow off some steam by rocking out to some more upbeat tunes too!
Don’t forget to take out some time and put these tips into practise if you’re feeling under pressure. Relax. You deserve it, it’s good for you, and it takes less time than you think.
