LL-MascaraAward-SubBanner

It’s time to open the bubbly; we’ve won some more awards, yippee!!

Tried and tested by an exclusive judging panel, Lily Lolo’s products have once again been victorious in the Natural Health International Beauty Awards 2015.

We are thrilled to announce that our Natural Mascara has won its category. This is the second award that our new formula has collected and in recent weeks natural beauty bloggers have been singing its praises across social media sites all over the world.

So why has it been so popular? Our Mascara will define, volumise and lengthen but is fragrance, silicon, alcohol free and proves that natural brands can hold their own against other mainstream mascara brands.

The full makeup range, Pressed Eye Shadow and Natural Lipstick were all awarded ‘highly commended’ which is amazing and we are very proud.

We love winning awards and it’s a great excuse for a celebration.

Bold or Natural, what’s your favourite shade?

March 2nd, 2015

lip image

Sometimes you will need to push yourself to change your go-to lipstick for a brighter alternative, but as long as it’s a complimenting hue for your skin tone, the results will be amazing.

Pale skin – A warmer red shade like French Flirt

Olive Skin – A deep red, Desire would be a flattering shade

Dark skin – Dark plum shades like Berry Crush

The colour of your lipstick can define the rest of your makeup for the day, so always have an idea which one you are going to wear before starting your makeup routine.

If you stick to the rules of heavy eye makeup with nude lips to balance it out, and toned down eyes with a bright bold lipstick, you can’t go wrong.

Lily Lolo’s Lipsticks have a creamy texture that delivers a burst of radiant colour. With added Vitamin E and Rosemary Extract to protect your pout, these Natural Lipsticks come in 10 stunning shades

Do you dare to be bold?

Here at Lily Lolo we are constantly offering shade advice and product recommendations to new customers, but by far the holy grail of beauty question asked is, ‘how do we get flawless looking skin?’.

We find that layering is the key and unlike other products that can feel thick and cloggy, our makeup has a weightless texture with remarkable staying power. The natural formulation of our best-selling products will minimise breakouts, blemishes and will help you achieve healthy looking, flawless skin in 3 simple steps.

Step 1 – Natural BB Cream

Our silicone free Beauty Balm contains nourishing and anti-ageing ingredients to moisturise your skin and give a healthy dewy glow as well as a super sheer layer of coverage.

Step 2- Mineral Foundation

After allowing your BB Cream to dry, begin buffing your favourite shade of Mineral Foundation into the skin. Our Baby Buki Brush is great for smaller areas of your face such as eyelids and around the nose.

Step 3 – Finishing Powder

Our Finishing Powder instantly minimises fine lines and imperfections with a lightweight texture and natural formulation. Choose from a matte or dewy finish and apply with our Powder Brush in light downward strokes. It will set your makeup and help it to last throughout the day.

Wow, we have LOVED 2014.

January 2nd, 2015

LL-BlogPost-Our2014

We started out 2014 a little apprehensive of the big announcement we were about to make, a total re-brand of the Lily Lolo you have loved and supported for a long time. Well, we just want to say a massive THANK YOU, because we couldn’t be happier with the reaction we received from all our loyal fans and stockists around the world.

Not only are we overwhelmed with all the praise, we have also earned recognition with several trade, reader voted and industry awards, many of which were for new products that only launched in 2014.

Our product development team spent a lot of time on new, improved formulas of our Eye Pencil and Mascara and these were amongst the big award winners.

We also launched our first liquid product, a Natural BB Cream, which went down a storm and is still continues to be one of our best selling products.

More pressed products were added to our range in 2014, twenty Pressed Eye Shadow singles, six Pressed Blush compacts and two stunning Limited Edition Eye Palettes for Christmas.

We went on the road towards the end of the year, traveling to trade shows in Dublin and Manchester. We enjoyed meeting some of our current stockist and also introducing Lily Lolo to some new stockists that loved it so much, they are now selling it in their own salons.

You can see that we have had a very successful and busy 2014, we can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store.

Thank you all for your continued support, we would like to wish you a very happy new year, and a beautiful 2015.

HOLY BROW! Beautifully defined eyebrows…

June 11th, 2014

Following on from the successful launch of our Pressed Eye Shadow, available in the same sleek mirrored compacts we have launched our Eyebrow Duo which comes in three natural shades.

Lily Lolo Eyebrow Duo

Enhancing your eyebrows can completely change the look of your makeup as they define your face and can give a polished effect, the key is to only enhance and define your natural brow so they look like your brows but better!

Featuring a natural coloured wax and a pressed powder in, Light, Medium and Dark, find the shade which is closest your natural eyebrow colour or go a shade darker if you want a stronger more defined look.

Makeup artist to the stars, Jane Bradley, worked with our Eyebrow Duo on our latest shoot and was really impressed with the colours, she said “It’s often hard to find brow shades which match seamlessly with your natural brow colour but clearly great care has been taken to get these Eyebrow Duo’s just right. LIGHT is perfectly ashy for pale blondes, MEDIUM is a mid brown for mousy blondes or brunettes and DARK is spot on for blacker hair without a hint of an orangey undertone. I’m really impressed and the wax is a great way to keep the hairs in place too”

Our Angled Brow – Spoolie brush is the perfect tool to use with our Eyebrow Duo, making application quick and easy. Our Eyebrow Duo allows you to get perfectly groomed brows in just two easy steps;
Step 1
Using the Angled Brow end of the brush apply the pressed powder in short strokes to the natural shape of the brow, following the direction of hair growth. Make sure to fill in any gaps for a polished result.

Step 2
Using the Spoolie end of the brush, comb through the brows to groom and tidy before applying the wax. Using the Angled Brow end of the brush, coat the bristles in a thin layer of wax and follow the same application for the powder. The wax will set the brows and help to hold them in place all day.

TIP: To get a more intense colour payoff, mix the wax and powder together

Our Eyebrow Duo is the natural way to beautifully define your eyebrows for an immaculate finish, have you tried it yet?

We don’t know about you, but we always love seeing tips about how to get makeup looks, so we’d like to share some of the model images from our recent photo shoot, and how we made them look so beautiful using some of our A/W products as well as firm favourites from our current range.

Below is Emma wearing everyday Autumnal makeup

AW main

Face

Our makeup artist used a mix of Coffee Bean and Warm Honey Mineral Foundation on Emma and a light dusting of Sunset Blush on her cheeks. Flawless Matte Finishing Powder was used over the top to stop shine or reflections on camera.

Eyes

All of our makeup artists used Prime Focus eye lid Primer to extend the wear of powder eye shadow, keeping it smooth and crease-free.

Using Poison Ivy Pressed Eye Shadow Duo, the matte rose was applied all over the eye socket as a base and the green was used on the lower and upper lash lines to create a smoky effect.

As a highlighter, Cream Soda Mineral Eye Shadow was applied under the brow bone to add a hint of glamour.

A coating of Lash Alert mascara and Natural Eyeliner, both in black was added to the upper and lower lashes to finish off  these powerful eyes.

Lips

We think Emma looks beautiful in the new Berry Crush Lipstick, and it really compliments the dramatic eye makeup.

Here is Tess with  more dramatic night time  makeup

AW 2nd

Face

A light – medium shade of our Mineral Foundation, Popcorn, was used on Tess to match her peach undertones, with a hint of Flushed Blusher to highlight the cheekbones.

Eyes

Prime Focus primer on the whole eyelid area, with Smoky Slate Pressed Eye Shadow Duo used to create this look. The smoky Taupe was applied as a base and the deep grey was blended around the eye socket and under the lash line for an intense night time look. How to achieve everyday smoky eyes look

April 15th, 2013

Here at Lily Lolo we know that ‘smoky eyes’ are always a look that you would like to perfect.

Before starting, try using our Prime Focus Eye Primer as a base. This will help to conceal or correct any discolouration and dark areas around the eyes while providing the perfect base to apply your eye shadow for extra staying power.

Cover the whole eye lid area up to the brow bone with a light coloured eye shadow like Vanilla Shimmer. Using a darker shade, we’d recommend smoky brown; apply to the outer edge of the eye socket to make your eyes really stand out. You can also sweep the colour along your lower lash line for more definition.

The Natural Eye Liner in black can then be used to put a line along the upper lash line, use a blending brush to smudge this to complete the smoky effect and add our Lash Alert Mascara in black or brown to finish.

Remember you can use any colour eye shadows to get this look. Our pastel shades Green Opal and Parma Violet will look great over the summer months.

Check out this video of our makeup artist Nadira Persaud, showing you how to create a more dramatic night time smoky eye look.

How to apply mineral foundation

January 23rd, 2013

The start of a new year is the perfect time to embark on a healthier lifestyle and clearout your makeup bag of products containing harmful and totally unnecessary chemical nasties.

Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation is free from Nano Particles, Bismuth Oxychloride, Synthetic Dyes, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Parabens and Talc, making us the perfect choice for you to try in 2013.

We’d always recommend trying two or three samples of our mineral foundation first to ensure that you find your perfect match, samples are available for just £1.29 each + p&p or why not give the gift of gorgeous skin by treating someone to a Ready, Set, Glow collection for £11.99 + p&p

To choose your shade you first need to determine if your skin has cool pinky undertones, warm peachy undertones ,  olive yellow undertones or if your skin-tone is balanced, in which case our neutral foundations are a great place to start.

You can also find help choosing your shade with our online guide http://www.lilylolo.co.uk/assets/images/pdf/001.pdf

LL Tip – Mixing two foundation shades can help you find your perfect shade if you’re in-between two.

Applying your mineral foundation is quick and easy to do,

  • Step 1 – Moisturise your face and allow a couple of minutes for the moisture to absorb, your skin needs to be dry for the best results.
  • Step 2 – Shake a little powder out of the jar and into your lid before swirling the product onto your Super Kabuki brush, tap off any excess powder and remember a little goes a long way.
  • Step 3 – Using circular motions buff the powder into your skin, blending evenly as you go.  Build up your coverage in light layers until you reach your desired finish.

Watch our latest Mineral foundation application video for more hints and tips on applying your new foundation.

Create some drama!

October 25th, 2012

As the months grow colder and the nights draw in it’s the perfect time to change your eye makeup and bring in warm, rich shades that will create dramatic eyes!

Miami Taupe, Mystery and Soul Sister are must have eye shadow shades to create a base colour for your new look, take a wash of colour across the eyelid before choosing a complimenting darker shade such as Moonlight, Cosmopolitan, Khaki Sparkle or Witchypoo to add depth and drama to the socket line of your eye.  Be sure to blend well using the Eye Blending brush to create a soft edge between shades.

Taking a little of the darker shade underneath the outer corner of your eyes too will pull the whole look together to give smouldering, dramatic eyes.

Highlight the inner corners with Orchid or Gold Digger before using the black eye pencil to draw on your eyeline as close to the lashes as possible (this will help give the illusion of full thick lashes) and flick up towards the end of your brow to really bring those eyes to life.

Finish off with two or three coats of our fabulous Lash Alert mascara and you’re good to go!

LL Tip – When creating drama on the eyes be sure to keep lips soft or neutral.

Back to basics: Choosing your mineral foundation

June 11th, 2012

It’s so important to find the right shade of mineral foundation for your skin tone. Customers ask about this quite a lot so we thought we’d share some hints and tips with you to help you achieve your desired look.

The best starting point is to look at your skin in natural daylight. If you have slight pink tones, then your natural colouring is cool. If you look peachier, your undertones are more likely to be warm, and yellow undertones usually apply to olive skin. If none of these are particularly obvious, then the neutral tone shades will suit you better.

Another good tip is to look at the inside of your wrists. If your veins show a blue tinge, then you’re more likely to have cool colouring. If they look green(ish) then warm tones will probably suit you better. Again, if you’re not obviously either one, then try the neutral tones.

Try our mineral foundation samples to test the shades before you invest in the full size one. We’d recommend ordering perhaps 2 or 3 samples. You can even mix our mineral foundations to create your own personal colour. This works particularly well if you’re in between shades. This is quite common as the seasons change.

Test the shades along your jawline, as it’s important that your foundation blends seamlessly from your face to neck with no obvious colour change. The right shade should almost disappear into your skin – making it look like your own natural skin but even more gorgeous!

If a shade looks a bit ashy, then it’s too pale for you. If it looks orange – even a tiny bit – then it’s too dark.

It’s also possible to tone down your natural undertones by choosing foundation that’s a shade away from your natural colouring. For example, to tone down pinkness, choose a neutral or warm shade and if your skin tone is too yellow or sallow, try a neutral or cool shade to brighten it up.

Finally, build up the coverage in several light layers to achieve the look of natural, flawless skin. After all, that’s what we all want isn’t it?

Pink Champagne anyone?

March 9th, 2012

We’re over the moon to announce that our Pink Champagne Mineral Eye Shadow has won the Natural Health Magazine Award for BEST Eye Shadow!

With its subtle pink colour and hint of a shimmer it’s a beautiful Spring shade that works great on all eye colours and as it’s such a versatile shade you can get stunning results when you pair it with shades such
as Khaki Sparkle, Mystery or Sidewalk

Take your Pink Champagne look from day to night by applying all over the eyelid with our Eye Shadow Brush before adding evening drama by blending Gunmetal into the sockets with our Eye Blending Brush for  added depth and definition to eyes.

SPF15 Mineral Foundation

January 27th, 2012

NEWSFLASH! We’re so excited here at LL HQ, our mineral foundations are back from SPF testing and have been rated SPF15. Now you can be safe in the knowledge that you’re helping to protect your skin whilst wearing our gorgeous foundation.

As many of you will be aware, not only is mineral make-up kind to skin and free from harsh ingredients it contains Titanium Dioxide which has natural sunscreen properties. The sunshine might not want to come out just yet but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be protecting our beautiful skin from the harmful UV rays!

Whilst it’s essential to wear a good quality sunscreen all year round, why not help protect your skin even further with the added benefits of looking flawless in Lily Lolo mineral foundation SPF15!

How to apply mineral foundation

March 17th, 2011

Mineral foundation Step 1: Moisturise. Ensure skin is clean and well prepped with a generous application of moisturiser. Well prepared and cared for skin will ensure the utmost staying power from your mineral foundation.

Step 2: Wait! – Wait until your moisturiser has been fully absorbed before application to ensure you don’t end up with patches or an uneven finish where the loose foundation has clung to the moisture. If you have an oily complexion, you might find a light layer of Flawless Matte finishing powder applied onto the dry skin before foundation will keep your foundation in place for longer.

Step 3: Disperse some foundation. Use the lid of the jar to collect some loose powder as you tap the base of the mineral foundation jar. Only collect a little at a time – you don’t need to overload your brush, as this could result in a cakey looking complexion.

Step 4: Choose your brush. For the best results we recommend using the Kabuki brush (£14.49 lilylolo.co.uk). Swirl the brush around the lid of the jar (holding the mineral foundation) allowing the brush to collect the delicate mineral powder. If the brush looks over-loaded give it a tap to knock off the excess. For a heavier coverage we recommend applying with a flocked sponge.

Step 5: Buff away! Using circular motions, start from the centre of your face, and work outwards, covering in light even layers as you go. Mineral foundation is buildable so you can repeat the process as many times as you like until you reach your desired level of coverage. Be gentle but firm, and reload the brush after several swirls to ensure an even and flawless finish.

mineral foundation Step 6: Once completed you’re ready to apply the rest of your makeup. Mineral foundation will warm with the surface of the skin and relax to a flawless base. If you find you have any loose powder left sitting on the surface, a clean flocked sponge (£3.99 lilylolo.co.uk) is a great tool for removing the excess. Simply lightly sweep over the face and it will collect any surplus powder.

Help choosing your mineral foundation shade

January 14th, 2011

Our customer services team love to help you choose your mineral foundation shade – but just before you pick up the phone try following our step by step guide to help you make the decision on your own. After all, it can be very difficult recommending a shade for you when we can’t actually see you.

Step 1

Time to determine the undertone of your natural skin tone. Our mineral foundations are suitable for all skin tones, and are available with either warm, cool or neutral undertones. Baffled? Don’t worry, we’ll explain.

mineral foundationWarm undertones are generalised by a skin tone with a more yellowy tone to it. It’s not an obvious yellow, but the tones are warmer. So for example if you have an olive complexion or have an Asian complexion you’re likely to have the warm undertones we’ve described.

Cool undertones can be generalised by a more pinky tint within the skin. You’re more likely to have the ‘English Rose’ type complexion.

If you’re not sure and think you sit in-between the two try neutral foundation shades – some of these are our top sellers, as they suit most skin tones irrelevant of the subtle undertone.

Step 2

Check against the veins in your wrists – it might sound funny, but in people with warmer skin tones the veins in the wrists show more green, and in people with cooler skin tones the veins show as more blue in colour.

Step 3

Select your category. Our foundations are split into the following categories – pale (for the very palest of them all our Porcelain has been described as one of the palest foundations available on the cosmetics market). Light – for the fairly pale group, you’ll find some of our best sellers like Blondie and Barely Buff in this category. Light –medium – you’re likely to be naturally quite light skinned, but tan easily. Medium – you’re likely to tan easily and hold the colour for most of the year, or have an olive or Asian complexion. And finally, our tan category caters for the deeper skin tones, up to our richest shades of Cinnamon and Hot Chocolate.

Step 4

Sample! Our samples are inexpensive and are there to make your buying decision easier. We always recommend trying a minimum of three samples – always try to select a shade lighter and darker than the one you think you might be.

Good luck!

Finishing powder to set your look

January 11th, 2011

Makeup professionals and artists for photoshoots, film and TV use finishing powder as one of their staple makeup kit items. They’ll rarely attend a shoot without a fixing powder for one very good reason- it works!

The bright lights of a photoshoot, and long days on set really test the strength and staying power of a makeup brand. Finishing powder is often known as setting powder in the beauty industry as it is used as the final layer of powder. Often translucent or semi-translucent in colour it leaves the skin with a subtle gleam whilst helping keep the makeup base, bronzers and blushers in place.

flawless-matte-finishing-powder For years now, we’ve been demanding our makeup performs to a professional standard. We want products to be formulated so that we can rely on them all day long, and we want them to have strong, quality and natural colour pigments.

Many people don’t realise that finishing powder is the power tool of the makeup artist. Finish with a subtle shimmering powder with a silk effect for added staying power and added natural glow. Or, use a matte finish powder to keep shine under control throughout the day. (A loose powder compact includes a flocked sponge for additional touch ups throughout the day if you have oily skin).

Ever spotted makeup artists sweeping makeup brushes over the model’s face on videos and photos of photoshoots? – It’s more than likely that they’re removing excess shine caused by the heat of studio lights with a translucent matte powder.

For a subtle glow to your skin select a Lily Lolo finishing powder in a silk effect to set your makeup in place. We have the semi-translucent shade Flawless Silk which is one of our all time best sellers and even won the Green Beauty Bible award for performance, and Translucent Silk which appears white in the pot (applies completely translucent), for only £12.49.

To control excess oil on your skin, shine or to simply ensure your skin has an ultra matte finish choose Flawless Matte powder (also £12.49). The Super Powder brush is the perfect brush applicator for your finishing powder, you’ll find it here.

How to conceal tired eyes

December 10th, 2010

Conceal-tired-eyesAh winter, don’t we just love you! Dark mornings and dark nights combined with a day at work and a few too many during the party season can result in terribly tired eyes.

If you’re struggling to conceal puffy eyes or dark circles try following these simple steps.

Before you reach for the concealer, try some of these simple tricks to reduce any puffyness – the old wives’ tale of cucumber slices really does work by naturally cooling and soothing.

Cold wet teabags – these are great for minimising puffiness as caffeine is dehydrating so helps dispel excess water in the tissue under the eyes. Plus, tea is an antioxidant so is great for your skin.

(Herbal tea bags are no good unless you drink chamomile, which is a natural anti-inflammatory so will help reduce any puffiness.)

Peepo!

Lily Lolo’s mineral concealer in Peepo is a yellow based concealer which is ideal for concealing dark under-eye circles.

Prominently, the undertones of eye bags are purple; these can look grey-y blue through the skin tone. Don’t be afraid of the vibrancy of Peepo, it easily blends into your skin tone.

For those who are really pale, try using mineral eyeshadow Cream Soda, as a concealer. It’s a slightly paler yellow which is excellent on very pale skin tones.

Yellow is the perfect colour to harmonise your under eye circles – it’s a simple colour science. Just take yourself back to the school days and picture the colour wheel. Yellow sits opposite purple and the two shades counteract each other. That’s why if you put them alongside each other you’ll see a huge clash!

Apply your Peepo or Cream Soda with a concealer brush, and buff into the skin in small circular motions.

Blend your mineral foundation over your face and the concealer, in light yet firm circular motions.

And now you will see a vast improvement in any dark circles and puffy eye-bags!

Winter skin survival

December 9th, 2010

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be complaining of tight skin and a dry complexion at this time of year. Especially so in these icy conditions! Coming in from the cold air into the dry air from the central heating over the winter days really dries the natural moisture and oils from the skin. The changes in the moisture levels can cause break-outs in even the most balanced of complexions.

Lily Lolo makeup is perfect for protecting the skin and harmonising the natural oil levels.

Here are our top products for winter skin survival this year:

1. Mineral foundation – with natural SPF protection Lily Lolo mineral foundation is applied to the skin in layers, won’t stick to any dry patches (unlike liquid foundation) and gives a flawless even coveragwinter-skine. For the most even coverage apply with our Kabuki or Super Buffer brush.

2. Peepo mineral concealer – harmonises purple undertones in the skin so is fantastic to use under the eyes if you’re suffering from tiredness, or perhaps a few drinks the previous evening.

3. Blush Away mineral concealer – another product which is great for harmonising colour in the skin – this one is perfect for hiding redness so great for applying over any spots or pinky imperfections

Remember to apply concealers with a concealer brush, it’ll prevent dirty oils form your hands from getting into the pores on your face.

4. Finishing powder – finishing powders protect the skin, as they are applied as an extra layer. The powders with a silk finish also give the complexion a luminous glow, brightening the appearance of the skin.

Our Super Powder Brush is great for an all over dusting of a finishing powder.

5. Natural lipgloss – our ingredients include naturally protecting Jojoba, alongside beeswax which helps lock moisture into the lips, preventing chapping.

How to get maximum wear from mineral makeup

July 26th, 2010

flawless-matte-finishing-powder You only need to read the comments on our Facebook page for report after report about how durable our mineral foundation and mineral bases are.

Ensuring maximum wear is easy – it’s all in the application technique.

Always ensure your skin is well prepped, and well moisturised – but ensure your moisturiser is well absorbed before applying foundation. If you have excess moisturiser left over there’s a chance that foundation will look uneven or streaky.

If you have oily skin, it’s important to soak up any excess moisture which can cause makeup to slide. Flawless Matte is the perfect product for this, containing the oil absorbing mineral kaolin. Pay particular attention to oily areas such as the t-zone, dusting powder over the middle of the forehead and over the bridge of the nose and onto the shin. Buffing Flawless Matte into pores around the nose can really help refine their appearance.

Once skin is soft and dry to the touch buff mineral foundation into the skin in light layers, building coverage gradually, this technique allows each layer to settle giving stronger staying power.

Summer wedding makeup

July 12th, 2010

Wedding season! We love it. What better excuse to buy new dresses and spend hours pampering? If you’re going to a wedding this summer, or even if you’re lucky enough to be a bride to be yourself – have you thought about your makeup yet?

You’ll need a good base which will last all day, and of course, look fabulous on camera. Clean skin followed by a dusting of Flawless Matte will keep excess oil at bay, and primes the skin ready for your foundation.

Apply your mineral foundation in layers, letting each light layer of powder settle before brushing on more, this way you’ll get a base which is really durable.

For a wedding, think pretty makeup, rosy cheeks and delicate features are perfect. Save the heavy bronzer and heavy eyeshadow for the evenings.

Peachy shades are also lovely; look up Ooh La La, Clementine and Candy Girl for ideas.

Keep eyeshadows neutral and delicate, shades like Miami Taupe, Golden Lilac, Pink Champagne, Vanilla Shimmer and Sandy Shore are perfect.Perfect-wedding-coverage

If you have light features consider ditching the black eyeliner and black mascara, try a softer shade like Mystery as a liner or the Blue Eyeliner, eyes will remain soft, but delicately defined.

A dusting of Translucent or Flawless Silk will give skin a healthy glow and for added sparkle dust a small amount of Star Dust to the cheekbones. Mixing Star Dust with your body lotion is also a great way to add subtle shimmer to your shoulders and décolleté – saves on buying another new product as well!

Happy Days

Nude eyeshadows – on trend for summer

July 5th, 2010

summer nude eyeshadowsThe launch of our new Lily Lolo Summer Essentials eyeshadow collection, featuring four new eyeshadow shades, Vanilla Shimmer, Honey Peach, Miami Taupe and Moonlight are the perfect colours for the summer months.

British Vogue described nudity as the strongest trend for Spring Summer 2010/11; silks, layers and softly shimmering chiffons have dominated the catwalks for the season. Colours are calm, sensual and soft with focus on pearlescent shades in ice-cream colours, peaches, creams and subtlety of tone. Skin is flawless, lightly shimmering with a soft focus finish

The Spring Summer collections from the world’s highest profile designers show the trend to the fullest. There was layer upon layer of vintage chiffon to be seen on the catwalks at Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld.

The four new eyeshadows from Lily Lolo are truly inspired and on trend as absolute makeup bag must haves for everyone this summer.

Summer makeup: the wonders of Flawless Matte finishing powder

June 2nd, 2010

Flawless-Matte finishing powder In typical British summertime style, the warmer weather seems to come and go more often than the tide. Right now the sun’s out, it’s red hot and we’re all loving it (until of course it comes to trying to sleep, and then it’s a different story!), yet tomorrow it’ll probably be raining. Ah don’t we just love the British weather!

So whilst it’s hot what should we do about makeup? It’s a nightmare watching foundation slowly slide down our face after every application. A great base is the best start to a long summer day. Cleanse, tone and moisturise (as usual let all the moisture soak into your skin before you start applying) and before you reach for the foundation apply a layer of Flawless Matte powder.

Flawless Matte contains kaolin, a soft, earthy clay mineral which has oil absorbing properties, making it perfect for creating a matte base with maximum staying power. Named after a hill in China where the mineral was very first mined, kaolin is naturally found as a white powdery rock and only has to go through minimal processes to be used in natural mineral cosmetics.

Flawless Matte also makes a great base for eyeshadow, the powder works in the same way as a primer would – creating a non oily base for the loose pigment – it gives eyeshadow extra staying power, prevents creasing and enables more vibrant colour. Try it for yourself by buying a sample!
